Hot shot truck negotiator made just one purchase mistake

Tom a sharp nonsense truck buyer did his homework. He knew the real invoice and was a strong negotiator. It looked like the car dealership was going to make next to nothing on the deal. Tom was happy.

But what happened in the next three minutes became the negotiation upset of the week. With a few subtle (and very honest) maneuvers by a sharp manager suddenly the dealership was making $4,758.36 on the deal. Tom never picked up on it and left smiling with a look that said, “I showed them.”

One afternoon my wife and I were having lunch and I asked a woman we met at the restaurant what she dislikes about buying cars (I like taking random surveys you can learn a lot). She said with a frustrating look, “I purchased a small economy car three months ago. Then they had their TV “car buying expert” come in and negotiate a Ford Mustang purchase for a young lady. They showed the “expert” saving her thousands of dollars on the purchase, and at first he did.

But then, with the cameras still rolling, as they summarized the transaction I picked up on a seemingly innocent fact that cost her thousands. But neither the “expert” nor the investigative reported picked up on it. I assure you the dealership knew what happened and was very pleased.
